For those of you who don't know, The Red Arrows, officially known as the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, is the aerobatics display team of the Royal Air Force. They are very fast, very noisy, and excellent fun to watch. You are never quite sure from which direction they will come, or at which height they will arrive.

Great fun!
Excellent videos! Here in Canada we have the Snowbirds. The air show at the base here in Winnipeg is always exciting. I love going. My dad was in the Air Force, although not as a pilot.
I bet your boys loved the planes!
We also have the Royal Canadian Air Farce.
Excellent!
I've only ever seen (or heard!) them in real life once, but it was an unforgettable experience.
In your video, though, it looks as if the plane with the blue trail has nosedived somewhere near the horizon ...
My dad never had any sons, so I became a tomboy, and grew up learning all about aircraft, and being dragged to airshows. In truth, I love it, and I have seen the Red Arrows many times, as well as South Africa's Silver Falcons.
The current squadron leader of the Red Arrows comes from the Bristol area, and I know that his hometown are extremely proud.
Fingers crossed the air tattoo doesn't get rained off this year - your boys might get to see much, much more! :)
I love to see those shows...I sometimes wish i could fly one just to see and feel the experience.
later sweets,
They come to a town near me every year and fly over our house. It is always a very compelling experience, particularly on the occasions taht they are so low it seems as if you are on eye level with the pilot whilst looking out of upstairs windows. I remember my first visit to Greenham Common for a display, the feeling as the big fighters did their displays and my heart knocked around by the noise of their engines reverberating around my chest cavity... and, of course, the smell of diesel, which always makes me think of ice cream vans in summer too :)
